The Local’s List has easily become my favorite new part of the newsletter! Getting to highlight some amazing local artists, business owners, and, in lucky cases, friends, has been a true joy. I love seeing what they come up with and where they suggest going in town, and since they're already a trusted voice, I know they’re sharing their A game.

This week is no exception, as we spend some time with Roy Sedrick Foster III learning about a few places that make you feel good in Nashville. Isn’t that what we all truly crave anyway? He was also kind enough to share his art for the newsletter headers this week (look up ^). Thank you, buddy!

Great Gazoz, Batman! Speaking of cravings, take advantage of this giveaway before it goes away. Check out the Garden To Glass: Spring Culinary Garden Workshop at The Factory at Franklin this coming Monday, May 18th. Act fast, and you can win a pair of tickets! As a previous slinger of Gazoz, I can still appreciate a well-made botanical drink, so get out there and learn how to grow your own gorgeous garnishes and level up your home-bartending game.

JUST ANNOUNCED

  • There are not enough events in this city centered around giant salamanders, if we’re being honest. Hellbender on the River lands at Neuhoff District on May 28th with local food, live music, whiskey tastings, and riverside hangs benefiting Cumberland River conservation. See if you can snag your way into this wonderfully weird night out.*

  • The Tennessee Titans’ 2026 schedule is officially here, including home matchups against the Eagles, Steelers, Jets, and more during Nissan Stadium’s farewell season. Single-game tickets are on sale now, so go pick your seat before somebody louder does!*

  • The Nashville Flea Market is back with the Salute the Troops Market on May 22nd-24th and the Summer Kickoff Market on June 26th-28th, bringing vintage finds, local vendors, and plenty of reasons to wander aimlessly. You can even try your luck at scoring free parking while you’re at it!*

  • Reality TV is meant to be watched in a crowded room full of people yelling at the screen. Almost Friday Sporting Club hosts a Summer House Reunion watch party on May 26th with drink specials, Bravo drama, and enough public secondhand embarrassment to really bring the community together. Sip the tea.*

  • Plus other just announced shows from MercyMe, Steel Pulse, Son Little, Hovvdy, Phoebe Ryan, and more!

LOCAL’S LIST w/ ROY SEDRICK FOSTER III

Some people make “favorite places” lists based on trends. Others make them based on where they actually feel good walking into a room. For this week’s Local’s List, artist Roy Sedrick Foster III shares some of the Nashville spots that keep him inspired, grounded, caffeinated, creatively curious, and occasionally soaked in a bathhouse sauna.

From bookstores and vintage shops to tacos and coffee stops, this one feels less like a city guide and more like recommendations from a friend with genuinely good taste. Not to mention, giving due flowers to so many kick-ass woman-owned businesses. Dig it! 🤘

OUTLOUD Music Festival PRESENTS:

TONIGHT

FRI & SAT - DREW & ELLIE HOLCOMB at RYMAN (WIN)

FREE AS A BIRD 4TH OF JULY VIP CELEBRATION

Some people watch fireworks from a lawn chair in traffic. Others do it from a rooftop with a top-shelf open bar in hand. Rare Bird’s Free As a Bird celebration returns to Noelle on July 4th with skyline views, DJs, premium bites, and one of the best seats in town for Nashville’s massive fireworks show.*

LOCALS ONLY

  • Readers, this one should be on your radar! Or would it be Green Ray-dar? Green Ray Books is hosting a book club from 4-6 pm on June 28th, where Martyr! author Kave Akbhar will be Zooming in to discuss the book. Be sure to purchase your copy (or a gift) at Green Ray Books, and try not to be abducted by a UFO.

  • Up-Down is throwing a Prom for everyone who got robbed the first time around on May 30th, complete with themed cocktails, arcade games, awkward photo ops, and a soundtrack built for dramatically staring across the room. Bonus points if you donate old dresses and accessories to support local students through Love the Dress TN. Get on the dance floor, and party like it’s 1999.

WIN STUFF

Really hoping everyone gets outside this weekend, gets some sun in their eyes (not directly), and keeps a song in their hearts!

Your #1 fan,

Jason
