Tuesday Greetings! Public service announcement time for all the pet-lovers, future pet owners, and possible foster fams out there. Today marks the eve of National Rescue Dog Day, and it comes as Nashville’s shelters are at maximum capacity. So, in an effort to help spread the word, we compiled a guide to some of the many organizations out there doing the hard work of finding forever (or even just temporary) homes for our lost furry friends.
Bonus: We also have a list of upcoming adoption-related events where you can meet some pups, and hopefully find that soul connection that you’ve both been longing for.
In other news, CMA Fest spoils Nashville country music fans every June with the genre’s best gems, and this CMA Fest Staycation Giveaway is no exception. Four-night passes, a Fairlane Hotel stay, backstage Ryman tours, Modern Love dinner money, and a year of Do615 MORE could all be yours if the country gods smile upon you, so go ahead and take a swing for the fences.*
JUST ANNOUNCED
Some jazz shows feel less like concerts and more like watching somebody gracefully melt your brain in real time. Catch award-winning drummer and composer Sofia Goodman at Analog on May 25th for a night of mesmerizing modern jazz and seriously stacked musicianship.*
If you grew up hearing “Love and Affection” on the radio, Matthew and Gunnar Nelson at Harken Hall on May 30th might unlock something dormant in your soul. The acoustic set also features Bangles founder Vicki Peterson and Beach Boys drummer John Cowsill. Win seats to witness their vibrant harmonies!*
Fairlane Hotel’s rooftop pop-up Capricious is bringing Italian summer energy to downtown through September 7th with spritzes, coastal cocktails, rooftop views, and the kind of atmosphere that makes Nashville feel briefly European.*
Somewhere between acid techno, prog rock, and two aliens discovering guitars for the first time, Angine de Poitrine was born. The gloriously strange duo lands at Brooklyn Bowl on November 27th with hypnotic riffs, microtonal chaos, and enough weird energy to make your brain briefly leave your body. Beam me up!
Plus other just announced shows from Chance The Rapper, Black Veil Brides, Be Your Own Pet, and more!
PET ADOPTION GUIDE TO NASHVILLE
At some point, most Nashville pet owners become convinced they “rescued” their little buddy, when in reality, the animal absolutely rescued them first. Today’s guide rounds up local shelters, rescues, and adoption spots full of future couch hogs, walking buddies, and tiny emotional support weirdos waiting to find a home. This comes amid a shortage of homes or organizations that can even take in more, so it’s a critical moment when we, as a community, could step up and really make a difference.
At least we could all just go to some of the upcoming events, pet some pups, and drag our closest friend with a big backyard and a love for animals.
